Between September 3, 2021 and October 4, 2021 my family lost 3 members (my 2 uncles and aunt).  Reflecting on the memories of them has given me the opportunity to think and refreshed my opinion on death.  Death is the leaving of the body, but the journey of the soul continues to warm our hearts and mature our wisdom. I came to this realization after the death of my forever hero, my grandmother, who passed away in 2007.  As we grieve and miss their physical presence, with the sweet memories we have of them and the love we shared, there is no true loss as their souls live on.

My uncles and aunt taught me how to be kind, forgiving, committed and non-judgmental, and most of all to always give back and help others.  Their actions in life were from the heart and performed with love.  As I continue to live my life with these guiding principles and values, for me their souls will live on through the generations left behind.  And I have a responsibility to keep their souls alive by continuing the family heritage and traditions, no matter how small, so that the future generations can make the heritage and traditions a part of life whilst evolving.

Many of us have lost loved ones during this pandemic and we are not able to celebrate their lives the way we did prior to the pandemic, and so saying our good-byes is not the same.  However, as the daily pace of my life is reduced because of the pandemic, my actions and thoughts are more focused on how to add more years of good health to my time on earth.

We do some sort of physical activities and/or eat healthy to add years to our life and to keep the physical body in good shape.  I started running and practicing yoga to keep my body healthy.

Others feed their minds with positive thoughts to emanate positivity into the universe and have peace within their minds. I too try my very best, and this is hard, to only have positive thoughts in my mind and when I stray to the negativity, I try to find 3 positive things (no matter how small) to counteract that negative thought.  This is how I nurture the peace within my mind.

But for me the most important are the actions I take to feed my soul, and that is living my truth and being authentic.  In doing so I am fulfilling my purpose in life and building the legacy I want to leave behind so that my soul lives on with my children, loved ones and future generations.

Live the story you want to be told about you, so that your soul continues to live in truth.  When you find something that nourishes your soul and brings joy, care enough about yourself to make room for it in your life.  The way you live your life shows your soul, your inner persona.

What do you want your legacy to be?

What do you want to be remembered for?

What fond memories you want others to have of you?
